JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CHAMPLAIN VALLEY

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND BELONGING STATEMENT

The Junior League of Champlain Valley (JLCV) and its members recognize the individual diversity, identities, circumstances, and inherent value of all people. Each of us brings unique backgrounds and perspectives that inform our daily lived experiences, and we honor these experiences with respect and dignity.

We seek to uplift and honor diversity and advance equity across our membership and our community, and we reject bigotry and discrimination. We welcome all women, including cisgender women, trans women, and nonbinary people. We will strive to be allies for our members and our broader community, and we will use our work to continue to be a part of a more compassionate, inclusive, and accepting world.

JLCV also shares the Association of Junior Leagues International’s (AJLI) commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. During the 2023 AJLI Annual Conference, delegates (including JLCV) voted on and approved the following Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging standard that is also reflected in JLCV’s operational policies and culture: 

The Association of Junior Leagues International condemns discrimination, harassment, and mistreatment based on race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, religion, veteran status, or any other classification of persons who have been historically and systematically denied equity and inclusion in our economy, education, civic privileges, and responsibilities in the voluntary sector, including in The Junior League. As affirmed by our member Junior Leagues, we are accelerating our efforts to take action and advance definitive, measurable policies and practices that eliminate racism in our countries, our communities, and our Junior Leagues. When we do this, we unlock tremendous power for our communities and realize our vision of women around the world as catalysts for lasting change.
